Naturopathic Care for Perimenopause in Kitchener-Waterloo

If you're in your 30s or 40s and feeling like your body has quietly changed on you, where periods aren't what they used to be, sleep has been altered, weight changes that won't budge, moods that swing differently, fatigue that doesn’t seem to improve, you're not imagining it. Perimenopause can start years before most people expect it to, and it rarely shows up in a way that's easy to name.

I'm Amanda Cressman, a Naturopathic Doctor in Waterloo, Ontario. I work with women across Kitchener-Waterloo, and online across Ontario, who are navigating perimenopause and hormonal changes, who want a thoughtful, realistic plan to feel more like themselves again.

What you might be experiencing:

Perimenopause looks different for everyone. Some of what I often hear from patients includes:

  • Periods becoming heavier, lighter, shorter, longer, or more unpredictable

  • Sleep disruption in the middle of the night, sometimes waking drenched in sweat

  • Anxiety, irritability, or a flatter mood than usual

  • Weight changes, often around the mid-section despite no change in diet or exercise

  • Brain fog, forgetfulness, or words that go missing

  • Hot flashes and temperature swings

  • Loss of libido or changes in sexual comfort

  • Joint aches

  • Headaches

  • A general sense of "I just don't feel like myself"

These changes are real, and they're often happening at a time of life that's already full: work, family, aging parents, all of it.

How I work with perimenopause:

My approach is to actually understand your body, not just your symptoms. That means time spent listening, asking questions, and looking at the full picture of how you're sleeping, eating, moving, digesting, and managing stress.

Where it's helpful, I use blood work and lab testing to look at hormonal patterns, thyroid function, iron, vitamin D, and other markers that can be useful in understanding what your body is communicating. Labs aren't always necessary but they're available when they add real information.

From there, I build a plan that's realistic and grounded, usually a combination of:

  • Targeted nutrition and lifestyle support

  • Strategies for sleep, stress, and the nervous system

  • Botanical and supplement support where it makes sense

  • Ongoing adjustments as your body responds

The plan is yours to live with. We don't add ten new things at once. We start with what matters most, seeing how your body responds, and adjusting from there.

What care looks like:

A first visit is 60 minutes, long enough to actually hear your story and your priorities. Follow-up visits are shorter and focused on what's working, what needs adjusting, and where you are in the process.

Care is available in-person in Waterloo or online across Ontario by video or phone, whichever fits your life. Lab requisitions, supplement recommendations, and follow-up plans are all handled through a secure online portal.

Is this a fit for you?

This kind of care tends to suit women who:

  • Want to understand their bodies, not just suppress symptoms

  • Are tired of piecing together advice from articles, podcasts, and AI tools

  • Want a real person to think alongside them through the process

  • Are open to gradual changes that build on each other

What success actually looks like:

For me, the deepest measure of success isn't that every symptom disappears. It's that you leave understanding your body better than when you arrived and that you have a plan you can work with that honours your health goals. Health is more nuanced than "fixed" or "broken," and perimenopause is a transition, not a problem to be solved.

Getting started:

If this sounds like what you've been looking for, you're welcome to book an initial consultation. I'd love to hear your story.
